Donations made to the Society/Institute are exempted from Income Tax Under Section 80-G of Income Tax Act.
Humble Appeal:
Institute For The Blind, Chandigarh is being run by Society For The Care Of The Blind. The Society was incorporated as a registered body in May 1972. The Society was formed with twin aims of helping in prevention of blindness & to educate & train visually handicapped children of the region so that they could be rehabilitated to take their rightful place as responsible citizens of the society. Our Institute runs a higher secondary level school; classes being run from class 1 to class 12. This is perhaps the only Institute in Northern India, which is catering to the educational requirements of the visually handicapped children of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and U.T. Chandigarh. Presently there are around 150 students. We have the requisite buildings to include Administrative Block. Class rooms, hostels for the boys & the girls, two computer labs, two gyms, kitchen, Dining Hall, Library & stores etc. We have 20 teaching teachers & around 45 administrative staff to run the Institute. The teachers are highly qualified, who impart instructions & training to the students using latest methods including audio, video & online classes. Our Institute is affiliated to CBSE. Ever since our students started appearing in 10th & 12th Board examinations about 25 years back, our results have been 100% Ist division with no failures. Our students have also performed exceedingly well in sports & other fields. All the VIPs visiting our Institute including governors & high Government officials have been very appreciative of the high standards of excellence achieved by our Institution. More than 200 ex- students of our Institute are well settled in life and some are undergoing graduation & post- graduation courses, for which we give financial assistance. All facilities to students including, board, lodging, Uniforms, books, stationery, transport etc. are provided free. Donations are covered for Income Tax exemptions in India under Section 80-G of Income Tax Act. Any donor in India can send his donation by Cheque/Draft in the name of ‘Society for the Care of the Blind’ payable at Chandigarh and can deposit it in our Saving Bank under intimation to the Society for issuing of receipt.

The cost of supporting one student in this Institute for one year to include all his/her expenses is Rs. 1.5 Lacs. Any Individual/Corporate who wish to financiall support visually challenged student is welcome to do so. Suitable feedback would be given to them about the student’s performance etc.; being sponsored by them.
