VISIT BY HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR PUNJAB

His Excellency Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor Punjab, on a very short notice, paid visit to the ‘Institute for the Blind’ Chandigarh ON 05-01-2026. His Excellency was welcomed by Shri Dinesh Kumar Kapila Sr. Vice-President-cum-Chairman of the Society, Principal Sh Rakesh Kumar along with officials of the Society/Institute. His Excellency spent about half an hour visiting the School Campus, Classes, Various training facilities provided such as Computer Centre, Braille Books Printing Press, Gymnasiums and Dining Hall adjacent to the Hostel. His Excellency had very comprehensive interaction with the SVP and they took keen interest to see the various technologies and latest methodology adopted by the Society to run the Institute for the Blind, where about 170 visually challenged students are being taught from 1st to 12th standard as per the CBSE, New Delhi Syllabus.
His Excellency also made detailed inquiries about the number of students, the hostels, the results of the Board Examinations and the facilities extended by us to students. He also inquired about our alumni and the SVP inormed him that we have an alumni association and just had a major function with them. He also visited the kitchen and saw the sinks, cold room and the dining hall.
He seemed very satisfied with the visit and has assured he will consider our case for grants etc.
Incidentally the Chief Secretary was also accompanied His Excellency during today’s visit.
The esteemed visitors were very pleased with the cleanliness of the entire campus and the way the Institute is running and the modern facilities being provided to educate and rehabilitate the visually challenged students.
We are really grateful to His Excellency for their kind visit to Institute and blessings for the visually challenged students.

PUNJAB ELECTIONS – PRINTING OF BALLOT PAPERS IN PUNJABI BRAILLE

Like previous Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, we received order from Electoral Officer, Punjab to prepare Ballot Papers & Numeric Signages for Bye-Elections of 04-Jalandhar Constituency. The Ballot Papers for total 1972 polling stations were prepared as per the instructions/guidelines of Election Commission of India and our staff Sh. Vishaw Jit incharge of Braille Press and Office Assistant Sh. Pankaj Sharma worked day/night to complete the entire job in time. The allied staff Shri Durga Bahadur, Sh. Tilak Raj and Sh. Vijay Kumar also act as helpers. Final proof reading was done under the supervision of Principal Shri J S Jayara. The Packets of Ballot Papers were delivered in a sealed trunk to the Labour Commissioner Jalandhar, on behalf of the Returning Officer Jaladhar Punjab. The Management of the Society / Institute congratulated the entire team.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS – 2023

Every year on January 26, India celebrates Republic Day with full fervour and great enthusiasm. It is the day when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950, and turning the country into an independent republic. It marks the transition of India from a British empire to an Independent republic.

On this day, the people of India not only celebrate and honour the achievements of the nation, but they also pay tribute to the people who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country.

The visually challenged students of Institute for the Blind, Staff & Management also celebrated the day with full enthusiasm. The National Flag was unfurled by the Sr. Vice-President in presence of all the guests & students. Principal Sh. J S Jayara addressed the students and tell them about the importance of the Day. After the National Anthem, students sang patriotic songs and enjoyed delicious refreshment at the end.

NATIONAL VOTERS DAY

In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India has decided to celebrate January 25 every year as “National Voters’ Day”. It has been started from 25 January 2011 to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India. On this Day Election Commission of Chandigarh honoured Shri J S Jayara Principal. National Voters Day was celebrated by the visually Challenged Students of the Institute for the Blind as per the guidelines by the Education Department.

GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Society for the Care of the Blind, Sector. 26 Chandigarh celebrated its Golden Jubilee by holding a cultural programme at Tagore Theatre on 30th November 2022. His Excellency Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator U T Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. The Governor was very pleased with the high standards of excellence achieved over these glorious fifty years by the society, in academics and all other fields. Col J. S. Bedi expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Society to the Honourable Governor, the Dignitaries and the guests and the press who were present there on the occasion and appealed to the public in general to come forward and join hands with the Society to promote its cause towards welfare of the society in general. The students performed very well during the cultural program and a video on the Journey of the Society so far since it’s inception was also shown on the occasion. Brig K I Kumar and Principal Shri J S Jayara also blessed the students.

CBSE CLASS 12 & 10 BOARD EXAM RESULTS
CBSE 12th & 10th board exam results of Institute For The Blind were declared on 21/7/22.
In 12th class 11 students appeared. All scored high first Division with first student scoring 91:% & lowest getting 74% & 9 getting distinction.
In 10th class Exam, 10 students appeared and all scoring high first division with 91% getting 1st position and lowest scoring 73% and 8 getting distinction.
