Free Eye Checkup & Screening Camp
EYE CHECKUP AND SCREENING CAMP ON 19TH DECEMBER 2024
AT COMMUNITY CENTRE, SECTOR: 42, CHANDIGARH.
It is intimated that like previous practice the “Society for the Care of Blind” sector 26, Chandigarh organises Free Eye Check-up & Screening Camps every year in rural and slum areas of U.T. Chandigarh in its mission to generate public awareness among the masses about the causes of Blindness and the measures to check its spread in the region. The Society, in its vision provide succor and support to the poor rural citizens needing cataract operations / eye surgery medicines, spectacles or treatment for different eye ailments.
In collaboration with Eye Specialists and Optometrists of Ophthalmological Department of GMCH, Sector: 32, and support of Shri Jasbir Singh Bunty, Municipal Councilor, the first such Camp is organized in Community Centre of Sector: 42, Chandigarh today i.e. on 19.12.2024. Approximately 250 patients from village Ittawa and surrounding area were examined during the Camp and provided with free medicines by our Society. In addition Shri Jasbir Singh Bunty also organized a Camp for Physiotherapy organized by Kushal Hospital, Kharar, in which more than 50 patients were advised for physiotherapy.
Shri Dinesh Kumar Kapila, Senior Vice-President of the Society informed that as per follow-up action of the Camp, out of 250 total patients, 10 patients were shortlisted for indoor treatment/Cataract Operations at Eye Department GMCH-32, Chandigarh. 75 Patients, as recommended by the Doctors, will be provided with free spectacles by the Society. Ms. Suparna Sachdev, Honorary Secretary of the Society further informed that the Society, under its mission, is dedicated to provide free and quality education to visually challenged children upto 12th standard and also working for the awareness and prevention of blindness. We strongly believe in the holistic and alround development of visually impaired children and persons with visual disabilities. Under the capable guidance and support by the team of doctors from GMCH-32, this Eye Camp will represent an important initiative to achieve the goals aimed by the Society for which we are really grateful.
